Apart from Australia and Slovakia (a province
within Czechoslovakia), the only other countries
with a significant production of opal have
been Mexico and Brazil. There are a few
other countries which have small occurrences
of precious opal, usually from volcanic
rocks, but attempts to exploit these have
met with little commercial success. |
